Research Topic(s)
Petroleum exploration and production; Conventional/unconventional reservoirs; Separation technologies for energy applications (e.g., CO2 capture, utilization, storage); Water use in hydraulic fracturing
Research Summary
- Waterless CO2 foams for oil and gas development: This technology will improve ultimate oil/gas recovery from conventional/unconventional resources with minimal environmental impact.
- Multiphase fluid flow simulation for flow assurance: This work will integrate critical flow assurance aspects, fluid pipeline transportation, and the subsurface/ surface assets.
- Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for microfluidics: This study numerically simulate flow regimes and hydraulic properties of two-phase flow with mass transfer and chemical reaction for CO2 absorption in microchannels.
- Unconventional resources/shale surveillance and performance prediction: This study aims to analyze and predict shale oil/gas well performance and determine scaling factors for shale reservoir evaluation.
