Next Generation Photovoltaics Lecture Series: Material Challenges in CdTe Photovoltaics

August 22, 2017

4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Center for Next Generation Photovoltaics

The Center for Next Generation Photovoltaics, a U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers (I/UCRC) program, will host a webinar as a part of the Next Generation Photovoltaics Lecture Series, titled “Material Challenges in CdTe Photovoltaics,” by Dr. Wyatt Metzger at 4:00 p.m. Central on August 22, 2017.

The webinar will be posted on the Next Generation Photovoltaics website just before the webinar.

Dr. Wyatt Metzger is a Principal Scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

The lecture is part of the Next Generation Photovolatics series.

Abstract

CdTe photovoltaic technology is now competing with mc-Si at costs competitive with conventional electrical energy sources. Further advances are possible by overcoming fundamental material challenges to increase lifetime, hole density, and performance. This talk will review recent work to understand and improve CdTe properties using single crystals, varying grain size, stoichiometry, different doping approaches, advanced characterization, and modeling.
