The topic will be “Quantitative Decisions: Combining Experts & Data to Improve Complex Systems.”

Abstract

For the past decade, there have been constant debates about the future of energy. Everyone, from scientists to celebrities and politicians to academics, has weighed in on various ideas. More recently, as a range of new technologies and approaches have become more common, the question has become “What will the transition look like?”

In 2020, COVID-19 brought some of the most difficult economic challenges we have ever seen. Energy, one of the most critical foundations of modern society, has been severely challenged with questions about the future as people all over the world are looking for stability ahead of sustainability. Throughout all of these debates, challenges, and advancements, one thing is becoming clear… in order to move forward, we must use data to better understand where we are. In this talk, Ryan Sitton will explain how data is redefining the energy industry, what the energy transition might look like, and why the secret to sustainability is reliability.
