
Texas A&M University, the Texas A&M Energy Institute and the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) recently signed an MOU to initiate collaborative research and co-develop innovative solutions and technologies; seek opportunities for capacity building through degree programs, short courses, training sessions, workshops, conferences, and symposiums; exchange students, faculty, and researchers, and foster future partnerships between the United States and Bangladesh.
BERC is the regulatory body for the energy sector (power, natural gas and petroleum) in Bangladesh, and the MOU was signed by the Honorable Chairman of BERC, Jalal Ahmed. He was joined virtually by two other members of BERC, Md. Mijanur Rahman and Dr. Syeda Sultana Razia.
Representatives from Texas A&M University and the Texas A&M Energy Institute included Dr. Stratos Pistikopoulos, the Director of the Texas A&M Energy Institute and a Professor of Chemical Engineering, Dr. Faruque Hasan, the Assistant Director for Decarbonization for the Texas A&M Energy Institute and an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering, as well as Dr. Faisal Khan, the Department Head for the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University and the Director of TEES Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center.
