Texas A&M Energy Institute Undergraduate Research Scholars Program
The Texas A&M Energy Institute’s Undergraduate Research Scholars Program, with a focus on Environmental Sustainability and Carbon Capture, gives Texas A&M University students the opportunity to work closely with faculty on a specific research topic in the areas of environmental sustainability and carbon capture or management.

About the Program
Program Options
In the first year of the program, two options will be available for each student to select.
OPTION 1:
Selected students are assigned a faculty mentor from among the Texas A&M Energy Institute’s Faculty Affiliates. Over the course of one long semester or a summer semester, each student works on a research project under the supervision of the selected faculty member.
OPTION 2:
Within a summer school program organized by the Texas A&M Energy Institute, students work with a Texas A&M Energy Institute Faculty Affiliate on a collaborative research project, either in the United States or abroad.
Funding
A $5,000 grant will be provided to each of the selected students, as well as $5,000 to support each student’s assigned faculty mentor for the student’s research efforts.
Application Process
Eligible Applicants
Outstanding students at Texas A&M University who have completed their sophomore year and are interested in contributing to ongoing faculty research related to sustainability and carbon capture.
Application Components
Applicants will provide their current GPA, along with three documents:
- Résumé
- Letter of Interest
(A description of why you are interested in this program and how it will benefit your career.) - Faculty Recommendation Letter
Individuals interested in Option 1 will also need to provide a 200 to 300-word description of the research topic they would like to pursue.
Documents must be submitted in PDF format, and applications close at 11:59 p.m. CST on February 15, 2025.

Evaluation Process
A review committee, composed of Texas A&M University faculty and staff members, will review the applications and score them on an evaluation rubric.
