The Texas A&M Energy Institute is joining eight universities to participate in a new six-year, $20 million project awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) titled “University Coalition for Fossil Energy Research (UCFER).”
Hongcai Joe Zhou Receives $1.8 million for Carbon-Capture Research
Hongcai Joe Zhou will receive nearly $1.5 million from the DOE along with $361,000 in non-DOE funding for a total of $1.8 million in support of his Carbon-Capture Research proposal, Evaluation of Amine-Incorporated Porous Polymer Networks as Sorbents for Post-Combustion CO2 Capture.
Texas A&M Receives $3 million NSF Grant for Student Training on Data-Enabled Discovery and Design of Energy Materials
Texas A&M University has received a five-year, $3 million grant from the National Science Foundation for graduate training and research in the area of Data-Enabled Discovery and Design of Energy Materials (D3EM).

Dr. Mahmoud El-Halwagi, professor of chemical engineering and McFerrin Professor, is co-PI on a three-year, $1M project from the Qatar National Research Fund. Dr. Patrick Linke, professor of chemical engineering at Texas A&M University at Qatar, is the PI.
