Energy Institute Celebrates Prestigious Faculty Awards for Contributions to Multi-Scale Systems Engineering

Professor Mahmoud El-Halwagi, the Deputy Chair of the Texas A&M Energy Institute’s Interdisciplinary Academic Council, a Professor of Chemical Engineering, the Bryan Research and Engineering Chair in Chemical Engineering, and the Managing Director of TEES Gas and Fuels Research Center; along with Professor Efstratios N. Pistikopoulos, the Director of the Texas A&M Energy Institute and a TEES Eminent Professor; have each been selected to receive prestigious international awards for their research and scholarship in multi-scale systems engineering.

Professor Kent Portney, a Texas A&M Energy Institute Faculty Affiliate and member of the Interdisciplinary Academic Council, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 13, 2020.

Xie Group Tracks Short-Run Impact of COVID-19 on the U.S. Electricity Sector

Dr. Le Xie, a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University and the Texas A&M Energy Institute’s Assistant Director of Energy Digitization, along with his research group and collaborators at Tsinghua University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has developed a first-of-its-kind cross-domain open-access data hub, integrating data from across all existing U.S. wholesale electricity markets with COVID-19 case, weather, cellular location, and satellite imaging data.
