Three individuals who previously worked with the late Professor Christodoulos A. Floudas were recently named to the 2019 Class of Influential Researchers by the journal Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research (I&EC Research). The 2019 Class of Influential Researchers includes 32 total individuals in the early stages of their careers who were chosen on the basis of the quality and impact of their work. A global team of editors and editorial advisory board members from the journal selects the winners independently, without nominations or suggestions.

Faruque Hasan, an assistant professor and Kim Tompkins McDivitt ’88 and Phillip McDivitt ’87 Faculty Fellow in the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University. Hasan was a Postdoctoral Associate under Professor Floudas at Princeton University.

Chrysanthos Gounaris, an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Gounaris was a doctoral student under Professor Floudas at Princeton University.

Ruth Misener, a senior lecturer in Computational Optimisation in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London. Misener was a doctoral student under Professor Floudas at Princeton University.

The virtual special issue showcases papers from the honorees, including the following three who worked with Professor Christodoulos A. Floudas:
